Help Preparing Entry

Before you fill in the entry form you need to have the following two pieces of information ready:

  • A summary of your activity or project
  • A reference from a teacher / mentor / professional

Summary

This should take the form of a two-page summary of your activity or project describing what you did. However, if you would prefer to present it in a different format (ensure that all the required information is still included!) then you can create a 5-minute digital video, a pdf of an A2 poster or a PowerPoint presentation of 5 slides or fewer.

Whatever format you choose, your summary must have the following information included so the judges can compare entries. Your summary is what will be assessed so make sure it is your best effort. Please write it in the second person (eg "the sample was tested" rather than "I tested the sample") and write it for someone who has no experience of your project.

Your summary should include:

  • The aim of your project or activity
  • How you approached the challenge of your project or activity
  • Any challenges you faced and how you overcame them
  • The outcome or results of your project or activity
  • The conclusions you can draw from your results

Reference

Your reference has to be written by a teacher, your activity/project mentor or a professional that has been involved with your activity/project. If they need any more information or guidance on what they need to put in the reference, they can download a short guide available on the Guides page.
