The Big Bang Fair

The Big Bang is a landmark event celebrating science and engineering talent. Click to find out more!

The Big Bang Fair (UK Young Scientists' and Engineers' Fair) is a celebration of young people's science and engineering based projects, covering all areas including maths and computing. Some are hands-on and practical, some are more research and test based, but all are the best the UK has to offer.

The Big Bang Fair is the setting for the finals of several existing competitions, including the culmination of the BA CREST national finals and the Young Engineers for Britain final. Both competitions will be judged and prizes awarded at the Fair along with the National Science Competition.

This event is also the kick off to National Science and Engineering Week - a national celebration of science, engineering and technology that sees families, schools, adults and children taking part in thousands of events across the country. Last year 1.4 million people took part in 3500 events! Don't miss out. To find more and what's happening in your area, go to our online programme at www.the-ba.net/nsew.

The Big Bang Fair will see over 600 students aged 11-19 displaying their work and taking part in fun and inspiring workshops and talks.

Another estimated 4000 visiting students will attend to be inspired by your work as well as MPs, top scientists and engineers, company chief executives and celebrities. You can find out more about the Fair at www.thebigbangfair.co.uk.

Have you been selected to attend the Big Bang Fair? If you have (results letters will go out in mid-December) then you will need to prepare your display so that you can showcase your work in the best way possible. You will also need to start preparing for the judging sessions that will lead to the two winners being selected. This guide should help you prepare for the Fair: Presentation Guidelines for National Science Competition Entrants at the Big Bang Fair.
